Apply for the 2016 Builders Course Scholarship

Introduction

This page outlines the purpose, eligibility and selection criteria of the proposed scholarship program to be run by Back to Basics. Back to Basics plans to provide 2 x Builders Management Packages free of charge to two successful applicants. Applicants will be employees or colleagues nominated by current and completed students.

Due to multiple requests to extend the application process until after the busy Christmas period; Back to Basics, in accordance with the clause 3 of the terms and conditions of the 2016 scholarship program has extended the closing time until the 31st January.

Purpose

At Back to Basics we believe that there are two keys to any successful business:

  • You have to give as good as you get, and
  • Working together is the cornerstone to continued success.

Back to Basics is looking to run a scholarship program as our way of giving back to the Building and Construction Industry; in particular, giving back to the people and organisations that have helped to build Back to Basics to the industry leading organisation that it is today.

Process

  1. Current and completed students will be invited to nominate their colleagues and employees in one of the two categories:
    – Established (for those applicants 30 years and over)
    – Up and Coming (for those applicants under 30 years old)
    Nominations will open on Monday 2nd November 2015 and close at 11:59pm Sunday 31st January 2016. Application forms are downloadable at the bottom of this page and will need to be filled out by the nominee and signed by the nominator.
  2. After the closing of the application period, a three person panel – comprising of Susan Stephens (Managing Director and CEO – Back to Basics), Brenden Wrightson (Sales and Marketing Manager – Back to Basics) and Steven Butler (External Consultant) – will review all applications to develop a short list for interviewing by Sunday 7th February.
  3. Applicants who have successfully made it through the short listing will be contacted to organise an appropriate interview time. Group interviews may be conducted face to face, via Skype or via phone as negotiated by Back to Basics and the nominee. Interviews will be conducted between Monday 8th February and Friday 12th February.
  4. The panel will review all interviewed applicants and determine the successful nominee for each category by Wednesday 17th February.
  5. The successful nominees will be notified via phone and displayed on constructioncourses.com.au on Friday 19th February.
  6. Nominees enrolled in course to commence studying in 2016.

Interview Period Ends: Friday 12th February 2016
Successful Nominees Determined: Wednesday 17th February 2016
Nominees Announced: Friday 19th February 2016
Nominees may Commence Course from: Monday 29th February 2016

Eligibility

The following sets out the minimum requirements to be eligible to be nominated for a sponsored course position:

  • Nominees must be a current employee or colleague of their nominator and be able to provide evidence if requested by Back to Basics.
  • Nominators must be a current or completed student whose enrolment was in a Back to Basics qualification.
  • Nominees must specify which category they wish to be nominated in and must be able to provide evidence of D.O.B. if requested by Back to Basics
    – Established (Over 30 years old)
    – Up and Coming (Under 30 years old)
  • Nominees must complete the answers in the application form themselves.
  • Nominees must be available for an interview, either via phone, Skype or face to face between Monday 7th December and Friday 11th December.

Course Information

The successful nominees will receive entry free of charge (sponsored by Back to Basics) into the Builders Management Package offered by Back to Basics. The successful applicants will have two years from the date of registration to fulfil all the requirements of the Builders Management Package. Upon completion of all requirements, the successful applicants will be awarded with their Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and a Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

Terms and Conditions

  1. Back to Basics reserves the right to request further information from any applicant. Failure to provide required information can result in the removal of the nominee’s application.
  2. Back to Basics reserves the right to change, add, remove or otherwise alter the composition of the review panel.
  3. Back to Basics reserves the right to extend cut off dates as deemed necessary.
  4. Successful nominees will be provided with free (sponsored) entry into the Builders Management Package offered by Back to Basics. This prize is not exchangeable, nor is the cash value redeemable by the winning nominee
  5. Once enrolled, successful nominees will be required to adhere to the terms and conditions of the Builders Management Package course.
  6. Entry into the Builders Management Package is inclusive of text material, assessments and student support help, as per the terms and conditions of the course.
