Trade Contractor Licensing in QLD

In Queensland the governing body that regulates the construction industry is the Queensland Building and Construction Commission or QBCC.

To find out more about licencing visit the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Website.

“Do I need to have a licence to operate as a tradesperson?”

Yes, in Queensland if you are an individual or company who wants to carry out work over $3,300 in value (all costs including material and labour) then you must hold the correct licence as determined by the QBCC.

If you are directly or indirectly involved in the work being done or supervising the work being done then you need to be properly licensed.

If you work in the construction industry in any of the following areas then you are going to need a contractor licence issued by the QBCC. That licence will allow you to carry out the work you have been deemed suitable under your application.
