Stimulus Package Helping the Construction Industry

October 13, 2009 | | Comments 0

Stimulus for ConstructionStimulus may not be all things to all people but certainly the building and construction industry has been well supported and so can probably be grateful for the injection of funds.

According to many recent articles in the media such as the one at the Brisbane Times, the construction industry has weathered the storm of the global recession but is not out of the woods just yet.

Even the Reserve Bank of Australia has given some positive signals and has even seen fit to raise interest rates, a sign that it believes in the strength of the Australian Economy.

Comments from the Reserve Bank and the Master Builders Austrlalia seem to indicate that

1. The stimulus package has provided good support to the building and construction industry and therefore to the economy as a whole.

2. The stimulus package via the schools program and other housing programs are giving the economny a positive lead in the recovery processs.

3. There has been a strong outcome on protecting jobs in the building and construction industry.

Obviously the winding back of the First Home Owners Grant will have some impact on the industry going forward as well as the likelihood of further interest rate rises. But let’s hope for everyone’s sake that the economy can now stand alone and that our industry can weather these bumps in the road as we move forward.

Do you think that the government stimulus package has helped you to maintain your work and role in the building and construction industry? We would love to hear your comments.

All the best from the team at Construction Courses.
