New Building and Construction Industry Code of Practice
If you supply building and construction services to the State or Federal Government need to know about the recent amendments to the Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry. They impact anyone wishing to do business with governments or work on government construction contracts.
On 9 July, 2009 The Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard, released the revised Implementation Guidelines for the National Code of Practice for the Building and Construction Industry.
The Code and Guidelines outline the responsibilities of Australian Government agencies as clients, project managers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, related entities, industrial associations and employers in the building and construction industry.
The Guidelines have been revised to reflect the Fair Work Act 2009 and suggestions the Honourable Murray Wilcox QC made in his recent report, Transition to Fair Work Australia for the Building and Construction Industry.
A copy of the revised Guidelines is available at the Australian Government Workplace Website.
Check out the guidelines and talk to your colleagues about how it affects you out on site and in your day to day lives. If you’d like to share your story of feedback on the guideline changes please feel free to leave your comments.
